On March 21, Mr. Justice Ramaswami Laxmi Narasimham was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. Replying to the eulogistic welcome, extended on the occasion, by the Advocate General and the President of the Bar Association, His Lordship is reported to have appealed for co-operation and to have requested that they might reserve their judgment of him till the day when he laid down the onerous office he was just assuming. Apter words than these, appropriate to the occasion, perhaps could scarcely have been chosen. They bespeak more than meets the bald eye.
A bright scholastic record
Mr. Justice Narasimham had a bright scholastic record. Born on September 27, 1906, in a high class Brahmin family of Tanjore, he completed his High School education in his native town, standing always high in the class, and carrying away the prizes and rewards for distinction all along the way.
