Madras Bar Council Lectures

It gives me indeed great pleasure to be in your midst today. I thank the Members of the Bar Council for having given me this opportunity. It has helped me to revive many pleasant memories of the past. I do not know whether I am competent to give you any useful guidance or advice as I left the Bar twenty years ago for another sphere and I am not in touch with the day to day work of the lawyer.
But, however, though I left the Bar, I must be deemed to have been in it till seven years ago when I retired from the Mysore Judicial Service. I have not since lost interest in the profession and it is that interest which is an excuse for my presence here.
It was 49 years ago that I served my articles or apprenticeship under one of the most respected leaders of the Original Side Bar, the late Mr. T. Ethiraja Mudaliar to whom I acknowledge my indebtedness for the training I had under him. Gentlemen, the state of affairs that then prevailed do not prevail now. Times have materiall ....
