The United Nations and the Concept of One World

Today is the 32nd anniversary of the found. ing of the United Nations. The United Nations Organization embraces almost all states of the world, and it has launched itself into the fourth decade of its existence. At this juncture, it is not pertinent to ask, "It is a good thing ?" On the other hand, it is a good moment to take fresh stock of the Organization's functioning. This could be done by trying to find answers to the following questions : First, what are the objectives of the U. N. ? And what are the organs established for implementing them ? Secondly, has the U. N. succeeded in achieving these objectives ? If not, what are the impediments in its way ? A further question may also be raised, can the U. N. lay the foundations of a World Government ?
